Language Courses Abroad
Courses abroad offer the opportunity to learn the foreign language in an authentic context. With total immersion in the foreign culture, you are soon able to use the language in real situations. Imagine the sense of achievement when you are understood by a non-English speaker! There can be pitfalls however in attending a course that is not appropriate to your needs or which does not offer a quality service. We can help you organise your courses so that you get the most benefit from them. We have built up links with quality institutions in a number of countries: Italy: ‘Omnilingua’ centro linguistico e culturale is located in the centre of Sanremo, close to the famous Casino and the historical part of the town. It is also just a few steps away from the beach, at the western end of the Ligurian Riviera, also known as the Riviera of Flowers, which stretches right along the coast as far as Monte Carlo. In fact, the nearest airport is Nice, just 55 kms away. Transport can be arranged from Nice railway station too. Courses range from Standard (20 hours a week), Intensive (30 hours per week) and Individual lessons. Four language levels are offered for Livello base (beginners) to Livello avanzato (advanced). Accommodation can be arranged with Italian host families, in shared student accommodation, apartments, guesthouses or hotels. There is a comprehensive cultural programme offered, including excursions
to the surrounding region. In addition painting, cookery or pottery
courses can be arranged for those who are interested in Italian crafts.
Portugal: ‘Sintralingua’ is a small but efficiently run language school in the heart of Sintra, the beautiful, historic town located in the mountains just a short distance from Lisbon. Sintra is most famous for its many gorgeous palaces and was the favourite summer retreat for many generations of the Portuguese Royal Family. The proprietors, Jim and Hilary Scott, personally supervise a range of quality courses all year round. Students can stay with selected Portuguese families or in a variety of local hotels. The school is easily reached by road or rail from Lisbon and the airport. Contact: sintralingua@mail.telepac.pt Spain: ‘La Casa de Idiomas’ is located in the centre of Valencia, Spain’s third largest city and home of the famous ‘paella’. Wander around the old part of the city and marvel at the stunning baroque architecture which contrasts with some of the most innovative modern architecture in Europe; then relax in a ‘tapas’ bar or on one of the many nearby beaches. The proprietors,
Matthew Sauvage and Amparo Rincon de Arellano, provide a wide variety
of professionally run courses for all levels. They specialise in examination
groups and provide special courses during school holidays. They also
have a number of other speciality courses, including one which is timed
to coincide with the famous ‘Las Fallas’ festival in March.
The nearest airports are Valencia and Alicante.
